major eating disorders (e.g., anorexia nervosa, pica), severe anxiety disorders (e.g., agoraphobia) or severe
personality disorders.
4 The child was mentally ill to the extent that there was a complete inability on the part of the child
to function normally. Examples of such disorders include life-threatening suicidal behavior; active
psychosis characterized by bizarre language; gross and sustained impairments in social relations.
